Today’s the day
There’s nothing to say
I’m just left feeling raw
Did you want me?
Did you need me?
Or was it money that you saw?
You know how far to push me
You know the things I like
That white bikini that you wore
Oh that bikini
That white bikini
That white bikini in your drawer
Manipulation
Aggravation
The best part of you is in that drawer
And you know it
Can you show it?
It keeps me running from that door
You know how far to push me
You know the things I like
That white bikini that you wore
That bikini
That white bikini
That white bikini is on the floor — no
I don’t need this
Got to stop it
Can’t take any more
My dignity called me
Now I‘ve seen
You played me to the core
You know how far to push me
You know the things I like
You know just how far to push me
It’s the only thing I like
That white bikini that you wore
That bikini
That white bikini
That white bikini is out the door
Oh that bikini
That white bikini
White bikini is out the door
About ‘White Bikini’…
The album title track, White Bikini, is an ode to feminine wiles. Darren elaborates “It’s about how some women use their looks or bodies to manipulate men. Males, being visual creatures, fall for it every time”.
The song grew from a chord progression Greg had written for another song, the catalyst for the change in lyrical direction came from an experience at a local watering hole. Darren remembers “Greg and I popped into our local pub one Friday afternoon for a beer, where there just happen to be some scantly clad waitresses working. We sat back an observed how these two girls worked the room and managed to get bucket loads of cash out of these young blokes, they had them wrapped around their little finger. The words for the song came into my head driving home; I sat down and penned them in 10 minutes.”
