You could have held my hand
Been my guiding light
You could have shared my dream
You chose to shut me down
I’m so battered and bruised
Just from something you said
They’ll never build a statue to you
Don’t need your voice in my head
Hope lies on the other side
Believe’n my fire’s alive
They’ll never build a statue to you
Don’t need your voice in my head
I don’t need your voice in my head
A safe place is where you hide
Lost in yesterday
Your words trap my fears
They should drive them away
I’m so battered and bruised
Just from something you said
They’ll never build a statue to you
Don’t need your voice in my head
Hope lies on the other side
Believe’n my fire’s alive
They’ll never build a statue to you
Don’t need your voice in my head
I don’t need your voice in my head
All the things you fail to see
Are right in front on the other side
I’m so battered and bruised
Just from something you said
They’ll never build a statue to you
Don’t need your voice in my head
Hope lies on the other side
Believe’n my fire is alive
They’ll never build a statue to you
Don’t need your voice in my head
It’s not over till I decide
Don’t ever sell me out
They’ll never build a statue to you
Don’t need your voice in my head
I don’t need your voice
I don’t need your voice
I don’t need your voice in my head
About ‘Other Side’…
“Other Side is one of those songs we wrote in an afternoon” says Greg. “We were discussing a couple famous or talented people that had crossed our paths in life and how they had the ability to help us reach our goals or at least offer some words of encouragement to inspire us. They didn’t. In fact some chose to be negative, condescending and trash our dreams. It seemed as though they only thought of themselves as deserving of success. When you are young you tend to mull over those words and beat yourself over them and probably inflicting more damage to yourself than if you were physically beaten. The answer lies on the Other Side – being positive and living life”.
